This project involves the refurbishment of a 1920’s mixed use building for Gannon Homes. The six storey building will provide retail space at basement and ground levels and residential accommodation over.
The existing ground floor is approximately one meter above pavement level and the design intent is to demolish the existing ground floor and to construct a new ground floor with level access to increase the value of the retail space. The existing structure which consists of timber floors joists and steel beams supported on internal steel columns and masonry walls has been inspected and strengthened where necessary.
