The new headquarters for Clare County Council provide 8,600 Sq.m of offices for 300 staff, configured around a public concourse, as well as meeting rooms, staff canteen, a laboratory, Council chamber and 320 car parking spaces.
The building form comprises 3 storey over basement. An open public Concourse and central atrium straddles the western facade of the spine block and links it to the eastern blocks. The building was designed as a green building incorporating natural ventilation, Eco cement used in the reinforced concrete elements and space heating assisted by a wood pellet boiler.
The building won ‘best public building’ at the 2009 LAMA awards.
