Watch Tower - Point Village

Watch Tower - Point Village

The Watchtower is a 40 storey 120 metre high residential tower with a two storey basement proposed as part of the Point Village development.  A cafe/restaurant will occupy the top 3 levels along with a viewing deck.  The residential levels from levels 4 to 28 will comprise 4 apartments per floor and duplex units which extend over two floors.

The current floor system is post tensioned in-situ concrete floors.  The floors are supported on the reinforced concrete cores and high strength steel columns at the slab edge.  The steel columns are spaced close together to keep the cross sections as small as possible and to create a light transparent facade.

The lateral load resisting structure consists of coupled RC shear walls which will transfer the wind loads on the building to the foundations.  Diagonal bracing members between floors contribute to the overall structure by controlling dynamic effects.

The basement is 2 storeys deep with the final storey being taken up with the piled raft foundation.  A steel sheet pile wall will form the walls of the basement.
